About Our Practice

Hirsch Roberts Weinstein represents employers of all types and sizes: colleges and independent schools, technology and life sciences companies, manufacturers and distributors, financial and professional services firms, healthcare and human services organizations, retailers, hospitality businesses, nonprofits and real estate firms.

Clients

Who we represent

We represent organizations, not individual employees. That one fact shapes the rest of this site: which questions we answer, and which side we are on when a dispute reaches an agency or a courtroom.

The organizations we work with

Our clients span sectors:

  • Higher education
  • Independent schools and special education
  • Technology and life sciences
  • Manufacturing and distribution
  • Financial and professional services
  • Healthcare and human services
  • Retail
  • Hospitality
  • Nonprofits
  • Real estate

We are based in Boston, work throughout New England, and handle matters for clients in other states, including California.

What we do not do

We focus exclusively on representing employers, so if you’re an employee seeking legal counsel, we wouldn’t be the right fit. We want you to find the right representation quickly, so we say this upfront to save you time.

Our approach

How we work with clients

The work runs from day-to-day advice on the decisions that create legal risk through labor relations, investigations and litigation.

Ongoing counsel

Clients call us about one employee, a policy going out next week, or a decision that has to be made today. We answer in plain language, on the timeline the organization is working to. Most of it is employer counseling, and the attorney who takes the call stays with the matter if it later reaches an agency or a court. Our clients tend to work with us for years rather than for a single case.

Training and education

We run manager and supervisor training through the Leadership Education Institute, chair seminars for professional and bar associations, and host roundtables where clients hear from outside experts.

A flat-fee option

The Labor and Employment Services Program lets an organization pay a flat monthly fee for unlimited consultation, regular manager training and annual document review, so a routine question never has to be weighed against an hourly bill.

Client alerts

We publish client alerts when the rules change, so clients hear about a new rate or filing deadline before they go looking for it.

Attorneys

The attorneys behind the work

Clients tend to name a person, not a firm. Each of our attorneys works in a defined set of practice areas, not whatever comes through the door, and the attorney you start with is normally the one who stays with the matter. Their bios list the work they actually do, the matters they have handled and where they teach and publish, so you can decide who fits before you call.
