The WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Editor block provides a traditional rich text editing experience for long-form content.
Use this block when you need to:
- Write paragraphs of body copy with inline formatting (bold, italic, links)
- Add simple lists, blockquotes, or basic HTML elements
- Create content that flows naturally without complex layout requirements
Key features include:
- Full Gutenberg color and spacing controls
- Configurable content width (narrow, wide, full)
- Left, center, or right content alignment
- Support for all standard HTML formatting
Best for: Blog-style content, policy pages, detailed descriptions, or any text-heavy section where the focus is on readability rather than visual layout.
Note: For more structured layouts, consider using other blocks like Two-Column Content or Content Grid instead.
Flexible Content Area Sample Content Section
The Flexible Content Area block is a catch-all container for custom layouts when no other ACF block fits your needs. It provides access to core WordPress blocks (columns, tables, buttons, etc.) for maximum flexibility.
⚠️ Important: This block should, ideally, be used sparingly. Unlike the purpose-built ACF blocks, content inside Flexible Content Area doesn’t always inherit the site’s design system CSS variables in the same way – meaning colors, spacing, and typography are custom-set and may not stay in sync with Global Styles updates.
Use this block only when:
- No existing ACF block can achieve the required layout
- You need a one-off custom arrangement (comparison tables, unique grid layouts, etc.)
- The content is unlikely to need site-wide style updates
Before using, consider: Could Two-Column Content, WYSIWYG / Visual Editor, Icon/Text Grid, or another structured block accomplish this instead?
